10 Actionable Ways To Gain Confidence

I’ve mentioned confidence numerous times in my articles.  I want to expand on those lessons and give you more things you can DO to gain confidence.  Just telling men what confidence can do for your life is like telling them the party you are at is off the hook without giving them the location.  Read my earlier articles first before reading this expansion.

GET PHYSICALLY FIT!
I can’t stress this enough.  A great balanced diet in combination with physical activity will give you energy, stress relief, and will make the man in the mirror look great.  Nothing will give you a mental boost like loving the man in the mirror.

Write down a list of your strengths.
This goes hand in hand with #3.  Once you determine what your strengths are, you can focus on those attributes to achieve the list of your main goals in life.
Personal Examples:
Intelligent
Strong work ethic
Fun-loving
Strong communication skills
Empathetic
Assertive

Write down a list of your long-term goals in life.
When I was around 19 years old, I wrote down a list of four things I wanted to achieve in my life.  They were in this order:
Become a good husband and father.
Become a doc.
Become a race car driver.
Become a writer.
I achieved them all by the time I was 30.

You must have a roadmap to travel through life.  Without direction, you will flounder along and waste valuable time.  Every day you waste is a day you can never replace.

Periodically, you will need to reevaluate your life goals.  My big four goals have changed since I achieved them at an early age.  The important thing is you NEED life goals to strive for.  You NEED a mission.

Set small, short-term goals and attain them.
Start small and those small wins turn into larger wins over time.  I raced circle track stock cars and sprint cars for two decades.  I used to set goals in racing like: get top 10s, top 5s, get a qualifying lap of 13.5 seconds, etc.  It was important to set short-term goals to avoid burnout and frustration.  Especially when I moved up in class.  Once I achieved the short-term goals, my long-term goals of getting top 5s consistently and winning became expected.

The same concept applies to your work and love life.

“Make your bed every day.”
It’s a simple task that is the foundation of basic training in the military.  Tidiness.  If you respect your environment, you will respect yourself in the process.  Making your bed gives you a sense of accomplishment to start your day with the right mindset.

This concept applies to your appearance as well.  Dress nice.  Get haircuts every two weeks instead of once a month.  Wear cologne.  Update your wardrobe.  Pay attention to your footwear.  All women notice your shoes.  Polish them and keep them nice.

Seize Calculated Risks.
Most men will go their whole life and never act on opportunities when they present themselves.  The most common reason is fear.  Why mess with comfort?  The second most common reason men miss an opportunity is lack of vision.

The greatest opportunity of my life came out of nowhere.  Incidentally, it was the most expensive venture of my life.  It ended up being the most profitable business deal of my career.  I had other plans at the time, but I knew I had a winner.  I took the initiative and it’s now the foundation of my empire.

Learn a new skill or hobby.
I remember as a kid seeing my dad’s nightstand filled with how-to books.  I used to think they were boring, but now I get it.  Over my father’s lifetime, he mastered an incredible amount of building and maintenance skills.  He taught me many things, but I still call him up from time to time when I have a home maintenance problem I have difficulty troubleshooting.

With technology today, it has never been easier to learn new skills.  A simple Google search or YouTube query can give you access to the needed guidance to learn just about anything.

Learn from past mistakes!
Everyone fucks up.  Not everyone learns from those fuck ups.  That is the difference between winners and losers.  Winners take accountability for the mistakes and correct them for the future.  Losers think of themselves as victims and blame others for their problems.  As the legend Bob Ross said: “We don’t make mistakes, just happy accidents.”

Compete.
You need to get into situations where you compete with other competent men.  We are not talking about video games or a hot dog eating contest.  Get out there and PHYSICALLY compete.
